Master Your Money. Own Your Future.
Financial literacy for athletes, taught by entrepreneurs who lived it.
Capital Forge League is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational organization that provides experiential entrepreneurship training to military veterans, athletes, and athletic support professionals transitioning to civilian careers.
Through hands-on business simulation and competitive team challenges, participants learn critical financial literacy and business ownership concepts โ including Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) frameworks โ by applying them in real-world educational scenarios.
Understanding Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL)
Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) refers to an individualโs right to control and monetize the commercial use of their personal brand, identity, and public personal.
For athletes, this includes:
- Name: Legal identity and professional reputation
- Image: Photographs, videos, and visual representations
- Likeness: Voice, signature, biographical information, and personal attributes
Recent changes in NCAA policy and state legislation have created new opportunities for student-athletes to benefit from their NIL rights while maintaining amateur status.
Why NIL Education Matters for Career Transitions
For athletes and veterans transitioning to civilian careers, understanding NIL principles extends beyond sports endorsements.
These same frameworks apply to:
- Building a professional brand in any industry
- Protecting intellectual property in business ventures
- Negotiating contracts and partnership agreements
- Understanding ownership rights and equity structures
- Evaluating licensing and royalty opportunities
CFLโs Hands-On NIL Educational Methodology
Capital Forge League teaches NIL concepts through experiential learning rather than traditional classroom instruction.
Participants donโt just study NIL frameworks โ they apply them by:
- Developing business concepts that require understanding brand value and licensing
- Creating partnership agreements with defined ownership and IP terms
- Analyzing real-world NIL case studies from collegiate and professional athletics
- Understanding tax implications of different compensation structures
Knowledge Is Power. Membership Is Everything.
